Student Leadership Opportunities

Interested in helping fellow UNMC students succeed?

The Office of Academic Success offers two paid student leadership opportunities:

• Supplemental Instructor (SI)
• Peer Success Leader (PSL)

Both positions include training, flexible scheduling, and pay $17/hour.

Peer Success Leaders

Peer Success Leaders (PSLs) support students in achieving their academic goals by helping them identify, utilize, and adapt academic resources and strategies, and by connecting them with services and resources that support their academic success, general well-being, and overall student experience at UNMC.

PSLs receive training and ongoing support. One-on-one sessions are flexible and may be conducted in person or via Zoom.

Supplemental Instructors (SIs)

Supplemental Instructors (SIs) support students in historically challenging courses by leading group study sessions that reinforce course content, strengthen learning strategies, and connect students with academic resources.

SIs receive training and ongoing support. Session schedules are flexible and may be conducted in person or via Zoom.

Position Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a current UNMC student enrolled at least part-time
• Have completed their first academic year in their UNMC program
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
• Demonstrate a commitment to supporting student academic success and well-being
• Be willing to assist students from all UNMC colleges and programs
• Faculty or program coordinator recommendation required for Supplemental Instructor (SI) applicants
• Federal Work Study eligibility preferred
