Chuck Brown, MFA
Chuck Brown joined BHECN as a Communications Coordinator in February of 2023. He helps communicate around BHECN’s work to distribute American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) dollars to increase Nebraska’s behavioral health workforce. He also works to help develop and implement BHECN’s overall communications strategy on a variety of platforms.
Chuck came to BHECN after 10 years at OpenSky Policy Institute, a Lincoln-based think tank that examines state tax and budget policy. At OpenSky, Chuck served at the organization’s Communications Director and then Deputy Director. Prior to his work at OpenSky, Chuck worked at UNMC for more than six years and edited the campus newsletter, UNMC Today. Before that, Chuck worked for two years as a journalist with The Associated Press.
Chuck is a native of Omaha. He holds a master’s in fine arts in writing degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
