Programs for behavioral health students, trainees and professionals

Lifelong Learning Fund

BHECN's Lifelong Learning fund supports educational and career engagement opportunities to help grow our state's behavioral health workforce.

Graduate Trainee Stipend Program

The Graduate Trainee Stipend Program financially supports master's-level students during select advanced practicum or internship experiences.

Mentoring Program

BHECN's mentorship program provides guidance and support to undergraduate and graduate-level students seeking licensed behavioral health careers in Nebraska.

BHECN Scholars

The BHECN Scholars program supports undergraduate seniors who plan to pursue master’s degrees in Nebraska-based behavioral health programs.

PMHNP Clinical Education Stipend Program

The BHECN PMHNP Clinical Education Stipend Program is designed to recruit and retain nurse practitioner preceptors and students in the field of psychiatry across Nebraska, with a focus on rural, under-resourced, and justice-involved communities

Psychiatry Interest Group

The UNMC Psychiatry Student Interest Group is an active, medical student-run organization that works to promote psychiatry and mental health through a variety of different educational activities, mentorship and outreach.

These accredited continuing education activities are designed for Behavioral Health providers to include psychologists, advanced practice nurses, nurses, licensed mental health therapists and social workers.

Project PEACE

Project PEACE (Psychiatric E-modules Advancing Clinician Education) is a series of web-based modules to teach and support primary care providers caring for patients in their practice with behavioral health conditions.

Telehealth Training

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, day-to-day use of telehealth allows people to connect safely and effectively to mental health services no matter where they are located.
