Laura E. Phipps, PhD, LP, BCBA-D, LBA
Assistant Professor, iCASD
Licensed Psychologist
Board Certified Behavioral Analyst - Doctoral Level
Licensed Behavioral Analyst

Phipps joined MMI after working as a school psychologist in a small rural district in Texas, where she provided behavioral consultation, counseling services, and psychoeducational assessments for school-aged children. She also worked at the Baylor Autism Resource Center, offering clinical services and supervising trainees. Phipps moved to Omaha to pursue her doctorate, specializing in the interdisciplinary assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding difficulties and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. During her training, she gained extensive experience developing, implementing, and supervising behavioral interventions in the Pediatric Feeding Department.
After completing her doctoral work, Phipps became a faculty member at MMI’s Autism Diagnostic Clinic, returning to her early training in psychological assessment. She has strong expertise in both intervention and evaluation, with a particular focus on autism and feeding concerns. Her research aims to improve the quality of life for children and their caregivers, with an emphasis on understanding the emotional experiences of autistic individuals and their families during intervention and assessment and identifying practical ways to enhance those experiences. Phipps has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, served as an ad hoc reviewer for several academic journals, and received grant funding from the Organization for Autism Research to support her applied research.
