Maternal and Child Health Concentration

The Maternal and Child Health concentration prepares public health practitioners to advance the health and well‑being of birthing people, infants, children, adolescents, and families. Training emphasizes communication, community engagement, program evaluation, and leadership grounded in MCH principles. Courses focus on partnering with families and communities, identifying gaps in MCH programs and policies, advocating for systems‑level improvements, and strengthening collaborations that promote health equity across the life course. Students also learn to translate emerging research into effective MCH practice. Graduates will be equipped to analyze and evaluate maternal and child health initiatives using advanced methods, prioritize opportunities for advocacy, and lead efforts that improve outcomes in diverse public health settings.
