LiveGreen Ambassadors

UNMC Interim Chancellor, Dr. Dele Davies and LiveGreen Ambassadors participate in the annual Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony on April 25th, 2025.
About the Program
The LiveGreen Ambassador program engages colleagues, faculty and students at UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Clarkson College who are passionate about sustainability. As an Employee Resource Group, LiveGreen Ambassadors support the organization's mission to lead the world in creating a healthy future for all by fostering a culture of sustainability and helping the Med Center achieve its 2030 goals. The Office of Sustainability supports the Ambassadors.
LiveGreen Ambassadors are asked to:
- Model sustainable behaviors.
- Provide colleagues with information, especially during sustainability campaigns, when information is provided on a specific topic for ambassadors to disseminate through channels like email, posters and word of mouth.
- Help others use tools to implement sustainability initiatives.
- Listen to colleagues' ideas for sustainability on campus and convey those ideas to the Office of Sustainability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate?
All colleagues, faculty and students affiliated with any UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Clarkson College location are welcome to apply to become a LiveGreen Ambassador.
Do I need to be a sustainability expert?
No. The Office of Sustainability provides training, resources and support for LiveGreen Ambassadors to help you integrate sustainability into your role and department.
Why do we have the LiveGreen Ambassador program?
The LiveGreen Ambassador program is integral to the Med Center becoming more sustainable. Conserving energy, reducing waste and increasing the use of active transportation all require Med Center employees to make choices about their behavior. People are much more likely to change their behaviors if they have peers who help and encourage them and hold them accountable. Having ambassadors in all areas across the Med Center ensures that information is reaching a wide audience and allows for meaningful one-on-one communication related to sustainability.
What will I be asked to do as a LiveGreen Ambassador?
As a LiveGreen Ambassador, you will be asked to model sustainable behaviors, provide your colleagues with information and answer questions they have, help individuals use tools to implement sustainability in their departments and listen to colleagues’ ideas for sustainability.
What is the time commitment?
The time commitment will vary based on your desire to be an active member or a supportive member of the LiveGreen Ambassadors ERG. Active members are asked to more regularly attend large group meetings, be involved in a committee and attend a few of our extra-curricular events throughout the year. Supportive members have the flexibility to drop into any or all events as their schedule allows.
