Professional Bio
Johnson is an occupational therapist with experience in school based services. She started her Pediatric Fellowship Experience with the Munroe-Meyer Institute Occupational Therapy Department upon graduation from University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2026. She works with a range of ages in the school setting from preschool to high school on fine motor, sensory regulation and self-help skills. Birkel works with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, Down syndrome and physical/developmental/neurological disabilities. Johnson loves the unique atmosphere that each school provides on a day-to-day basis. Johnson has done previous research on feelings of belongingness in professional student education and community mobility.
