Professional Bio

Knowlton joined the MMI/UNMC Speech Pathology Department in 2019 after working with the adult and geriatric populations across various skilled nursing facilities in Iowa for three years. During her time with the department, Knowlton has served as the inpatient lead speech language pathologist and the acute care clinical fellow mentor. She advanced to the role of hospital supervisor in 2023.

Knowlton’s initial clinical focus was on adult dysphagia, cognitive and language disorders. Over time, she expanded her expertise through clinical training in neonatal feeding and pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders. Knowlton has furthered her training through various clinical growth opportunities with training in administration of the JFK Coma Recovery Scale-Revised exam, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaulation of Swallowing exams, and is MBSImP certified.
