A Collaborative Approach to Clinical Support Across Disciplines
Currently, our medical team supports patient and their families as well as many disciplines working together at the Munroe-Meyer Institute to provide expert, evidence-based, innovative care.
We provide exceptional patient- and family-centered care to individuals with a variety of diagnoses across the lifespan. This is achieved through an interprofessional approach of providing care for the whole person.
Clinical Services
We provide comprehensive and personalized care for individuals with disabilities.
- Biochemical Genetics Clinics.
- Developmental Tracking Infants Progress Statewide, NICU Follow-Up Clinic.
- Down Syndrome Clinic.
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder Clinic.
- Genetics Clinic.
- Pharmacogenetics Clinic.
- Specialty Clinics for Children and Youth, including the Craniofacial Clinic and Medically Handicapped Children's Program Outstate Genetics Clinic.
- Transition to Lifespan Care Clinic.
Our History
Although medical services at MMI have changed over the years, they go back to early in our history, including:
- 1920: Orthopedic evaluation and treatment.
- 1922: Residential medical care.
- 1959: Became a UNMC training site for medical students.
- 1967: Added Psychiatry, pediatrics and neurology.
- 1972: Started traveling out-of-state to offer medical services at Medically Handicapped Children's Program clinics.
- 1984: Added Genetic Medicine.
- 2001: Began providing services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
