Erin Westover, OTD, OTR/L, BCP
Dr. Westover is an assistant professor in the occupational therapy program. She has a background in occupational therapy practice with children and youth, primarily within educationally-based systems. Dr. Westover earned her board certification in pediatrics in 2022. She currently teaches Occupation-Based Practice and Integrated Practice courses related to her expertise areas, as well as the Practitioner as Educator course.

Dr. Westover actively engages in service and advocacy at UNMC, as well as the state and national levels. She currently serves as President of the Nebraska Occupational Therapy Association and engages in the Association of State Association Presidents through the American Occupational Therapy Association. At UNMC, Dr. Westover serves as the chairperson of occupational therapy admissions and as the program's representative in the Pathways/RHOP program. She is also a member of UNMC's Interprofessional Academy of Educators.

Dr. Westover is a rural Nebraska native, growing up in Superior and attending college at Concordia University in Seward. She attended graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis and practiced in central Kansas for several years before moving to Omaha. Outside of her UNMC roles, she enjoys almost any outdoor activities, Husker volleyball, local coffee shops, cheering her daughter on at various activities, and exploring new places with her family.

Dr. Westover's scholarly interests focus on occupational therapy practice with children and youth, such as positive mental health promotion, sensory processing dysfunction, and developmental disabilities. She also engages in the scholarship of teaching and learning by researching topics within occupational therapy education, such as active learning strategies, fostering self-regulated learning, and learner well-being.
