Patient Safety

Our goal is to support and improve quality and safety in rural health care organizations by developing collaborative partnerships, applying systems-based thinking approaches, and translating evidence into practice.

Putting Patients First

Our team works to improve patient safety across Nebraska. Since 2012, the CAPTURE Falls program has:

35

Supported 35 rural Nebraska hospitals, 33 of those being critical access hospitals, in quality improvement efforts for inpatient fall risk reduction.

Over 50

Delivered over 50 collaborative support calls to provide education and program updates to hospitals engaged with the program.

Over 40

Delivered over 40 invited or peer-reviewed presentations at regional, national, and international levels, and published six peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, contributing to generalizable knowledge of fall risk reduction in hospital settings.

UNMC experts in falls document COVID impact

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in prolonged and multiple stressors on the U.S. health care system – and in COVID-19 patients themselves.
