Shayla Yoachim, PhD, MA, is an Associate Professor in the College of Allied Health Professions and serves as the Director for CAHP at the Kearney HSEC. She earned a BS from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Education and Human Sciences, a master’s degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education, and a PhD from University of Nebraska Medical Center in Genetics, Cell Biology, & Anatomy.

While obtaining her PhD, Dr. Yoachim was the inaugural student in UNMC’s Anatomy Teaching Track Program, gaining expertise in educating health professional students across various biomedical sciences disciplines while also training in traditional biomedical science research. In addition to classroom and lab teaching, Dr. Yoachim has served in administrative leadership roles centered on student success and wellness.

Her research interests include investigating the impact of learning modality on development of student hard and soft skills and understanding factors impacting student well-being throughout health professional career training.
