UNL & UNMC Announce Unified Accreditation

In spring 2025, the University of Nebraska submitted an application to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to pursue a single institutional accreditation for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As part of the process, HLC representatives conducted site visits on June 2 and 3, meeting directly with university leadership as well as faculty, staff, and students from both campuses. Following the visits, the HLC submitted its recommendation to its board for consideration. If approved, joint accreditation is expected to be finalized before January 2026.
