Area of study: Clinical Data Warehouse

Research Interest: Using NoSQL terminologies in the implementation and support of Clinical Data Warehouse

Current research work, BMI-related work:

I am currently working with Dr. Campbell on a paper examining methods for supporting medical terminologies whose vocabulary is evolving over time in a clinical data warehouse.  One of the large issues in this area is dealing with codes are de-activated, after they have already been used within a data warehouse.  The data warehouse must support a long-term view of patient information, which means supporting evolving terminologies that are used to store patient information (such as SNOMED CT and other medical terminologies). I am also working with Dr. Campbell in supporting the database used for tracking inventory and orders in the research area of the TSF Biobank, which holds tissue which patients have consented to allow to be used for research; and work supporting the i2b2 clinical data warehouse used by UNMC, which is a project involving Dr. Walter Scott Campbell, Dr. Jim Campbell (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Jim McClay.
