Douglass Haas, DNP, APRN-NP, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC

Dr. Douglass Haas has received all his educational preparation from the UNMC College of Nursing. He earned his BSN in December 2009, his MSN as an Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in May 2015, his PMC as a Family Nurse Practitioner in May 2018, and his DNP in May 2020. He is currently employed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UNMC College of Nursing–Kearney Division, where he serves as the Specialty Coordinator for the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. In this role, Dr. Haas is actively involved in curriculum development, clinical instruction, and student mentorship across the graduate nursing programs. His academic focus includes competency-based education, evidence-based clinical reasoning, and advanced practice simulation.

Dr. Haas maintains an active faculty practice appointment as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner at Lexington Regional Health Center, where he provides acute care services to hospitalized patients. This clinical role informs his teaching with current, real-world expertise and supports his commitment to integrating practice and education. A certified nurse practitioner with a background in hospital medicine and critical care, he brings over a decade of bedside experience into the classroom. Dr. Haas also holds several leadership roles within the College of Nursing, including chairing the General Faculty Organization, and contributes to statewide nursing initiatives through his involvement in professional organizations and foundation work.
