Research & Scholarship

The UNMC College of Nursing is an internationally recognized leader in nursing research. Our research mission is to transform lives through discovery of new knowledge & implementation of the highest quality research evidence.

In this mission, we leverage our vast expertise to advance science that impacts all facets of human health and care delivery. Our research expertise encompasses the domains of health equity, acute and chronic illness, caregiving, critical care, cardiovascular health, gerontology, maternal/child health, oncology, pulmonology, self-management science and symptom science such as sleep, pain, fatigue, delirium and more.

With over $6 million in grant funding awarded during our 2023 Fiscal Year, our current major funders include the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institute for Nursing Research, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
