MITS Mission Statement

The medical imaging and therapy programs within the Department of Clinical, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Sciences are mission-driven to provide a premier educational environment that prepares competent entry-level professionals who demonstrate the highest quality of patient-centered care, safety, and service.

Goals

To uphold our Mission, the Radiation Therapy Program has the following goals:

Goal 1: Students will be clinically competent.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will position patients as directed in the treatment plan/record.
  • Students will operate equipment to plan or deliver a prescribed therapeutic dose.
  • Students will describe the relationship between normal tissue tolerance and tumor lethal dose.
Goal 2: Students will demonstrate effective communication skills.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills.
  • Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills.
Goal 3: Students will develop critical thinking skills.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will recognize setup discrepancies/ variations.
  • Students will critique pretreatment images to evaluate patient positioning.
Goal 4: Students will model professionalism.
