About Emergency Management
We manage emergency planning, training and exercises in order to prepare for campus response and recovery. Our office also maintains the emergency procedures that guide UNMC colleges and departments when responding to emergencies.
UNMC follows the National Incident Management System guidance maintained by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The National Incident Management System model uses the Incident Command System for command and control, which also is supported by local and state responders. The university also follows an incident-command model for organizational direction and control during incidents.
Incident Commanders lead crisis response, while the Office of Emergency Management staff coordinates emergency planning and training.
