Welcome! Thank you for joining us.
We look forward to welcoming you to our two-day conference focused on the latest advancements in the management of thoracic and gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies.
Whether you’re attending one day or both, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive learning experience designed for multidisciplinary care teams.
Day 1: Thoracic
Gain insights into current and emerging strategies for the management of sarcomas, thymic tumors, and small-cell lung cancer. Sessions will also address best practices in post-thoracic surgical pain management and highlight considerations for complex case management across disease stages.
Day 2: GI
Explore two decades of progress in GI cancer care, including advances in systemic therapies, considerations for treating older adults, and the integration of patient perspectives into clinical decision-making. Presentations will emphasize real-world approaches and interprofessional collaboration.
This conference is designed to provide oncology professionals with clinically relevant, evidence-based updates across a spectrum of disease states, with practical applications for multidisciplinary care teams.
At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
Thoracic:
- Discuss current management options for patients diagnosed with sarcoma.
- Implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients with thymomas and thymic carcinomas.
- Develop comprehensive strategies for managing all stages of small-cell lung cancer.
- Institute effective pain management protocols following thoracic surgery.
GI:
- Review advancements in gastrointestinal (GI) cancer management over the past two decades.
- Integrate patient perspectives into cancer diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Identify key considerations and adapt oncologic care for patients aged 80 and older.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
