Hosted by the Nebraska Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program, this half-day workshop emphasizes pediatric readiness and teamwork through expert-led sessions, hands-on skills training, and immersive simulations—including a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill powered by innovative iWall technology. Participants will be equipped with the latest pediatric emergency guidelines, tools, and resources to enhance collaboration and improve patient outcomes statewide.
The workshop will be offered in two sessions—morning and afternoon. Participants are encouraged to select the time that best fits their schedule. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
This collaborative event is presented in partnership with Children’s Nebraska and iEXCEL (Interprofessional Experiential Center for Enduring Learning) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Demonstrate pediatric emergency care skills related to trauma, airway management, bleeding control, and other time-critical interventions.
- Apply pediatric mass casualty incident (MCI) response protocols, including SALT (Sort, Assess, Lifesaving Interventions, Treatment/Transport) triage, to safely and effectively manage pediatric patients during MCIs.
- Integrate Nebraska-specific pediatric emergency guidelines, readiness programs, and available tools into clinical or prehospital practice.
- Implement team-based strategies that enhance collaboration between EMS and hospital personnel to improve pediatric emergency care outcomes.
This accredited continuing education activity is designed for Nebraska physicians, advanced practice providers, emergency department nurses, paramedics, and EMTs.
