UNMC Truhlsen Campus Events Center
(located on the first floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education)

This seminar provides a focused update on screening, diagnosis, and management of common gastrointestinal (GI) conditions encountered in primary care. The program highlights recognition of red flag symptoms requiring urgent referral and reviews current guideline-based approaches to Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), hepatitis, and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.
Participants will gain practical strategies to confidently counsel patients on evolving gastrointestinal therapies and procedures, supporting timely, evidence-based decision-making in frontline clinical practice.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Apply current evidence-based guidelines to common GI conditions in primary care.
- Identify alarm features requiring timely gastroenterology referral.
- Improve the appropriate utilization of diagnostic testing and endoscopy.
- Demonstrate coordination of care to support improved patient outcomes.
In support of improving patient care, University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
