This conference provides a comprehensive update on diagnostic challenges and evolving practices across major pathology subspecialties, including gynecologic, genitourinary, head and neck, gastrointestinal, soft tissue, cytopathology, hematopathology, molecular pathology, and transfusion medicine.
Through focused, case-based presentations, participants will review diagnostic criteria for both common and rare entities, recognize important mimickers, and address frequent pitfalls encountered in daily practice.
Emphasis will be placed on the appropriate use of immunohistochemical, molecular, and transfusion medicine advances to enhance diagnostic accuracy and support optimal patient care.
This activity is designed for practicing pathologists seeking to integrate current advances into contemporary practice.
At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
- Differentiate diagnostic criteria for entities in surgical pathology, hematopathology, and cytology, including rare lesions that may mimic more commonly encountered diagnoses.
- Integrate current immunohistochemical stains and molecular diagnostic tools into routine practice to improve diagnostic accuracy.
- Apply systematic approaches to the evaluation and resolution of diagnostically challenging cases encountered in contemporary pathology practice.
- Utilize molecular pathology techniques appropriately in clinical decision-making and diagnostic workflows.
- Assess recent advances in transfusion medicine and their implications for patient management and laboratory practice.
In support of improving patient care, University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
