Comprehensive Parkinson's Disease Care
This course will provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to the management of Parkinson’s Disease. Topics will include diagnosis and initial management, management of advancing Parkinson’s, the future of treatment, cognitive changes, autonomic dysfunction, weight loss and exercise with Parkinson’s, the role of speech therapy, and deep brain stimulation. The course is designed to enhance the training of Parkinson's Disease care providers and was prepared and curated by Movement Disorders Fellowship-trained neurologists at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.

Course Objectives


At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
  1. Identify early signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.
  2. Recognize the ongoing research focusing on disease modification strategies in PD.
  3. Describe the possible neuropsychiatric complications in PD.
  4. State the roles of physical and occupational therapy in PD and the importance of exercise.
  5. Explain non-motor complications of PD including autonomic dysfunction.
  6. Discuss the surgical and non-surgical management options of advanced PD.
  7. Discuss the identification and management of weight loss in PD.
  8. Identify the role of speech therapy in PD.

Cancel/Refund Policy

If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so in writing to conted@unmc.edu no later than April 22, 2024. Cancellations made by April 22 will be charged a $25 processing fee. Cancellations made after April 22, as well as registrants who fail to attend without prior notification, will be responsible for the full registration fee.
