Omaha, Neb., established Miracle Hills Surgery Center while in interventional spine practice. She is currently active in the management of real estate holdings and farming corporations. She continues to travel the world, hiking, biking, kayaking, and playing pickle ball.

Waterloo, Neb., was elected treasurer for the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) and the SDMS Foundation Board of Directors. She and her fellow UNMC College of Allied Health Professions colleagues, Kathryn Wampler RST/DMS ‘21, Lea Lambing RST’15, ‘16, HPTT ‘23, and Jesse Umbra HPTT ‘23, were named first-place recipients in the SDMS Scientific Presentation Competition, for their work entitled, A Framework for Interprofessional Ergonomic Collaboration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Education

Dakota Dunes, S.D., is finishing his nine-year term of service and chairmanship of the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association Board of Directors. Over the course of his career, he has now given volunteer service as a past president of the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (now IAIME), and the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). He was elected back to the ACOEM Board of Directors in 2025 and serves as the continuing medical education course chair for medical review officer, musculoskeletal evaluation, and AMA guides to the evaluation of permanent impairment. He has practiced full spectrum OEM in the Sioux City region for 31 years and is now a physician shareholder with CNOS (Center for Neurosciences, Orthopaedics & Spine) in Dakota Dunes. He continues to officiate sub-varsity football and is the high school PA announcer for the local Dakota Valley football team as "The Voice of the Panthers". Next summer he will attend his fifth Scouting America National Jamboree as the chief medical officer of isolation and public health.

Kearney, Neb., was named the inaugural associate dean for the UNMC College of Pharmacy's campus in Kearney. She is an associate professor with the department of pharmacy practice and science and brings 21 years of academic experience to the role. 

Joel Travis M’92, Family Medicine ‘95 
Albion, Neb., was recognized in March 2025 by the UNMC Department of Family Medicine as the 2025 recipient of the Marion D. and Theodore H. Koefoot, Jr., MD, Outstanding Preceptor in Rural Family Medicine Award.

Nixa, Mo., is an operating partner in an emergency medicine staffing company staffing over 20 hospitals in Missouri and Arkansas. She is also the owner of Bella Medicia Medical Spa, a full-service med spa, offering a range of services, up to advanced procedures such as liposuction and fat transfer.  
Jacqueline Miller D'93, '98 
Washington, Mo., was recognized as the Missouri Dental Association's 2024 Dentist of the Year, and in January 2025, received the Award of Merit from the Greater St. Louis Dental Society. She is a retired orthodontist and teaches at Kansas City University in Joplin.

Lincoln, Neb., joined the UNMC College of Dentistry in January 2025, as a clinical instructor in the department of growth and development. In addition to her role as a pediatric dentist, she is a certified Clifton Strengths coach, and she works as an executive coach and serves as an invited speaker for career development offices at several universities.

Beatrice, Neb., joined Jefferson Community Health & Life (JCH&L) in November 2025 as a full-time physician assistant at the Fairbury medical facility. He has cared for patients at JCH&L since May 2024 and now expands his role to include service in Fairbury and the emergency department.

Loveland, Colo., continues to work as a PA for UCHealth in Northern Colorado. She shifted from primary care to cancer care in 2004. She currently works at the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Clinic and has recently been involved in the development of the Cancer Rapid Diagnostic Clinic. She and her husband enjoy where they live and spending time outdoors!

Broken Arrow, Okla., continues to serve as professor and chair of the department of psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine and was recently named president of the Tulsa County Medical Society.

Lincoln, Neb., has served as an APRN in student health at Doane University since May 2023. Her dedication earned her the Staff Member of the Year Award from Doane’s student congress in May 2024. She was honored with the New Affiliate of the Year Award from the American College Health Association in May 2025 for her leadership in student health initiatives.

Omaha, Neb., received the Excellence in Educational Service Award from UNMC’s Interprofessional Academy of Educators in March 2025. He serves as volunteer clinical faculty for UNMC in dermatology and internal medicine and is a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon at Dermatology Specialists of Omaha.

Lincoln, Neb., and her husband, Eric Johnson M’96, have been married for almost 29 years. They have been leading free medical missions to the Philippines, Peru, Paraguay, and in the U.S. annually since 1999. They are blessed with three daughters. Their oldest is 27 and is a registered nurse in California. Their middle child is 24 and is finishing her last year in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UNMC. Their youngest is 20 and is in her third year in pre-dental at California Baptist University.

Omaha, Neb., received the Dedication to Student Excellence Award from the UNMC College of Medicine Alumni Council in fall 2025. He serves as the Stokes-Shackleford Professor of Rheumatology at UNMC and is also a staff physician and researcher for the VA Nebraska Western Iowa Health Care System.

Lincoln, Neb., was named associate director of the physical therapy program in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions in November 2024. She was hired in 2014 as an assistant professor and director of clinical education.

San Francisco, Cali., completed her third year as a breast oncology nurse navigator and served as president of the National Charity League Golden Gate Chapter. She and her daughters volunteer weekly to provide service to local charities. 

William Thorell M’96, Neurosurgery ‘99 
Omaha, Neb., became chair of the department of neurosurgery in the UNMC College of Medicine in July 2025. He also serves as residency program director for the department, and as co-director of the Stroke and Neurovascular Center at Nebraska Medicine, which he helped develop.

Elk Grove, Calif., was named a top doctor in the March/April 2025 issue of Sactown magazine; Sacramento, California.

Aiken, S.C., earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in March 2025, her Master of Science in Nursing, family nurse practitioner in June 2025, and her Master of Science in Medical Informatics in 2015.

Valley, Neb., received a 2025 President’s Excellence Award, the University of Nebraska’s highest honor. The Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creativity Award recognizes individual faculty who have demonstrated meritorious and sustained records of excellence and creativity in teaching. She serves as professor and director of physical therapy education and chair of the department of health and rehabilitation sciences in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions.

Courtney Loecker N’99, 14, GS’24 
Lincoln, Neb., was recently selected for the AGING Initiative Multiple Chronic Conditions (MCCs) Scholars Program. She serves as an assistant professor in the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division and is a board-certified adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.  

Sharon Stoolman M’99, Pediatrics ‘03 
Omaha, Neb., recently assumed a new role as division chief of pediatric hospital medicine at UNMC. She continues her role as vice chair for external affairs in the department of pediatrics, and as medical director of the pediatric rehab unit at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.

Omaha, Neb., appeared on the January 20, 2025, television episode of Rural Health Matters, where she spoke about a range of topics related to fall risk reduction for older adults. The interview may be viewed on UNMC’s YouTube channel.
