The Nebraska Gut Club is a recurring continuing education activity designed for heath care providers in gastroenterology and hepatology, including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and pharmacists. This educational activity offers the latest advancements, clinical updates, and in-depth discussions on a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatological topics.

2026 Midwest Cystic Fibrosis Consortium (In-Person)

This multidisciplinary consortium brings together staff from Cystic Fibrosis (CF)-accredited care centers for a dynamic educational experience. Attendees will participate in keynote presentations and interactive breakout sessions covering emerging and high-priority topics in CF care, including mental health, treatment guidelines, research updates, CF-related diabetes, and sexual reproduction and health.

Dementia: Diagnosis and Treatment in the Primary Care Setting (In-Person)

March 19-20  •  UNK Regional Engagement Center – The Core

This two-day conference will explore key topics in dementia diagnosis and treatment. Sessions will cover diagnostic modalities and their most effective applications, as well as emerging biomarkers for detecting Alzheimer’s disease. Attendees will learn about current treatment options, including anti-amyloid therapies and criteria for identifying ideal candidates. The conference will also address both medication and non-medication strategies for managing behavioral symptoms associated with dementia. Finally, we will highlight resources and support systems available in rural Nebraska for patients and their families.

Gut Check 2026: Practical Gastroenterology Updates for Frontline Clinicians (In-Person)

This seminar provides a focused update on screening, diagnosis, and management of common gastrointestinal (GI) conditions encountered in primary care. The program highlights recognition of red flag symptoms requiring urgent referral and reviews current guideline-based approaches to Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), hepatitis, and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.

Participants will gain practical strategies to confidently counsel patients on evolving gastrointestinal therapies and procedures, supporting timely, evidence-based decision-making in frontline clinical practice.

5th Annual Cancer Risk and Prevention Symposium (Hybrid)

This symposium, sponsored by the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, brings together multidisciplinary health care professionals to review advances in hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic evaluation, and precision prevention. The 2026 program focuses on inherited cancer syndromes across solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, with sessions covering updates on Lynch syndrome, Li-Fraumeni syndrome, hereditary hematologic cancers, dermatologic clues to genetic risk, complex family history cases, and practical guidance on breast imaging, screening selection, and legal considerations related to genetic testing. Expert-led, case-based discussions and patient perspectives highlight strategies to translate genetic risk information into coordinated, equitable, and patient-centered prevention and screening practices.

PTSD Symposium: The Faces of PTSD (Hybrid)

The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Department of Neurological Sciences is pleased to offer the second annual full-day post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symposium. This activity will feature local experts in mental health and neurological sciences, offering in-depth discussions on PTSD research and treatment. Presentations will address diagnostic and treatment challenges in the face of medical events and substance use disorders (SUDs), as well as the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD in children and adolescents. The symposium will also highlight expert prescribing practices, review written exposure therapy (WET) delivered in a group setting, and present recent real-world data on sleep assessments in adults with PTSD.
