Compliance is an essential part of maintaining a high-quality American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center. While most instructors are already doing an outstanding job, a few simple reminders can help ensure everyone remains current and in compliance with AHA requirements.

Instructor Monitoring

All instructors are required to be monitored in each discipline they teach once during every two-year renewal cycle. Monitoring helps ensure consistency in course delivery, reinforces best practices, and provides an opportunity for constructive feedback and professional growth.

If you are due for a monitor, please don’t wait until your renewal deadline. Scheduling early allows for greater flexibility and helps avoid last-minute delays.

Please ensure your instructor file remains current. Depending on your renewal cycle, documentation may include:

Current provider card(s)

Current instructor card(s)
Required monitoring documentation
Instructor Agreement - coming soon
Quality Assurance Policy acknowledgment - coming soon

New DHHS Medicare Adult Day Services Requirement

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has implemented new Medicare Adult Day Services requirements related to CPR and First Aid training. Depending on an employee’s role and employer requirements, staff may be required to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Heartsaver First Aid training.

If you receive questions from students or organizations regarding these requirements, please encourage them to contact the Training Center. We are happy to help ensure they are enrolled in the course(s) that best meet their licensing or employer requirements.

Reminder: Encourage Students to Claim Their eCards

After course completion, students receive an email from the American Heart Association with instructions to claim their electronic course completion card (eCard).

Please remind your students to claim their eCard promptly. Claiming their card soon after receiving the email helps ensure they have immediate access to their certification when it is needed for employment, credentialing, or regulatory purposes. Students who delay claiming their eCard may have difficulty locating the original email later.

Teach the Current Science

Always use the most current AHA course materials, videos, and exams. Course materials should never be supplemented with outdated or unapproved content that could conflict with current AHA guidelines.
