Q: Who is responsible for staying current with AHA and Training Center requirements?

A: Each instructor is responsible for remaining current with all American Heart Association
(AHA) and UNMC Training Center policies, course updates, and instructor requirements. We encourage instructors to read Training Center communications and review updates as they are released.

Q: I am interested in teaching on the UNMC campus. How can I get involved?

A: We would love to hear from you! If you’re interested in teaching courses on campus, please contact the EMS Education Team. Opportunities vary throughout the year, and we’re always interested in connecting with qualified instructors.

Q: How do I align with another AHA Training Center?

A: Instructor alignments are managed through the American Heart Association’s online system. While the UNMC Training Center is happy to answer questions and provide guidance, the alignment process itself is completed through the AHA ATLAS website and is outside of the Training Center’s control.

Q: A student hasn’t claimed their AHA eCard. What should I do?

A: Remind students to claim their eCard as soon as they receive the email from the AHA. Promptly claiming their card ensures they have immediate access to their certification and helps prevent issues locating the email later. This also affects our Training Center Scores.

Q: When do I need to be monitored?

A: All instructors must be monitored in each discipline they teach once during every two-year instructor renewal cycle. Contact the Training Center early to schedule your monitoring.
