Zachary Houser, DMD, MPH

Assistant Professor, Pediatric Dental Residency, UNMC College of Dentistry

Zach Houser, DMD, MPH, is a full-time assistant professor in the UNMC Pediatric Dental Residency Program. He earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Brigham Young University, a doctor of dental medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University, an advanced education in general dentistry certificate from the United States Air Force Dental Corps, a pediatric dentistry certificate from Children’s Hospital Colorado and a master of public health from the UNMC College of Public Health.

Before joining UNMC, Dr. Houser practiced privately for three years in Colorado Springs and served for seven years in the United States Air Force Dental Corps.

After twelve years as residency program director, Dr. Houser transitioned to a full-time faculty role focused on enhancing resident learning and research, improving patient safety and patient/parent satisfaction. He also works to strengthen relationships between the UNMC College of Dentistry and Children’s Nebraska, where he has served on credentialing and sedation committees. Dr. Houser has built and maintained strong interprofessional collaborations with teams across Children’s, including emergency medicine, anesthesia, osteogenesis imperfecta, hematology/oncology, cardiology, foster care and craniofacial services.
