Dr. Williamson is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist. A Prosthodontist has at least three additional years of advanced training after receiving the DDS degree to acquire specialized knowledge and expertise. Prosthodontists mostly receive their patients by referral from general dentists or other specialists because the patients’ dental conditions and treatment needs are complex. The Prosthodontist develops the appropriate treatment plan to return the patient back to maximum comfort, function, health and esthetics and will often coordinate care from other dental specialists to meet the treatment goals.

Dr. Williamson is now in his 44th year as a dentist - 26 years have been devoted to both faculty group-practice patient care and teaching at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics and the UNMC College of Dentistry.

He maintained a solo general practice in College Station, Texas, for 17 years. He then returned to post-graduate school at the UNMC College of Dentistry where he earned a Certificate in Prosthodontics and an MS in Oral Biology.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of both the American College of Prosthodontists and International College of Dentists.

Currently, Dr. Williamson is an Associate Professor and Director of Implants at the UNMC College of Dentistry. He teaches Clinical Implantology and Removable Partial Dentures to pre-doctoral students.

Dr. Williamson has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics.

His interests are working with students on missions to gain global dental experiences, providing expert witness services, and consultation with dental providers to strengthen their private practices.
