About Dr. Webster

Tammy Webster, PhD, is the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Allied Health Professions. Tammy completed the Stanford Design Thinking Bootcamp in 2019, the AAMC LEAD (Leadership and Education Development Program) in 2020, and the Academy of Academic Medical Center Coaching Series in 2021. These opportunities have reinforced her interest in the best practices associated with leadership development.

Tammy believes that learning from failures, active and open listening, and capitalizing on strengths are key essentials to becoming an effective leader. Everyone has the potential to learn and apply these key essentials. Tammy's coaching style is to listen with an open mind and to guide the coachee in solving problems through thoughtful reflection, clarifying the issue, setting accountability goals, and forecasting solutions.

What is one of Dr. Webster's favorite coaching questions?

"What would it mean to you if..."  This is a favorite question structure for me because it tugs at the emotional implications of an action or a possible outcome. The question invites discovery (or rediscovery) of the "why", which can serve as a catalyst for resolving whatever challenge the individual is facing. It permits the individual to explore a possibility of an outcome from an emotional framework and then identify the actions needed in fulfillment of the "why".
