The UNMC College of Medicine Parents and Family Association is an organization comprised of parents and family members of students enrolled in the UNMC College of Medicine. This advisory council was founded to enhance communication between parents and family members of these students, the college and the university.

Purpose

  • Enhance communication between family members and the UNMC College of Medicine.
  • Promote social interaction among students.
  • Support student wellness.
  • Inform family members of campus, college, and student updates.

Events

The Parents & Family Association sponsors multiple events for College of Medicine students and their families annually.

Family Day

Held each August before the White Coat Ceremony, Family Day welcomes loved ones of incoming medical students. Attendees hear from College of Medicine and campus leaders about the resources and support available to students throughout their time at UNMC.

M1 End of Year Celebration

M1 End of Year Celebration

Each May, the Parents & Family Association sponsors a celebration planned by the M1 class to mark the completion of their first year. The event offers students a chance to reflect, connect, and celebrate their accomplishments with classmates and supporters.

Couple’s Night Out

Couple’s Night Out

Hosted during Orientation Week in August, Couple’s Night Out invites partners of medical students to connect with one another. All College of Medicine students and their significant others are welcome to attend and build community before the academic year begins.

The Parents & Family Association supports Match Day and Commencement events organized by the M4 class. These milestone celebrations honor students’ achievements and transitions as they prepare to graduate and begin residency.
