Occupational Health & Safety

Through our occupational health programs, we are reducing work-related accidents and injuries at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.

We work under the premise that all employees are responsible for::

  • Understanding the hazards associated with their work.
  • Planning each job to assure proper safety equipment is available and used.
  • Knowing what actions to take in the event of emergencies.
  • Reporting any injuries or potential injuries and any unsafe conditions and asking questions as needed.

Principal Investigators and project leaders also are responsible for providing access to safety tools, resources and training, ensuring a safe working environment, and promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
