Academy of Clinicians as Teachers (ACT) Certificate Program

Academy of Clinicians at Educators

Academy of Clinicians as Educators Multi-Institution Certificate Program

Being an effective clinician does not necessarily mean that you are prepared to be an effective teacher.
The Academy of Clinicians as Teachers (ACT) Certificate Program is a multi-institutional collaborative of clinician educator faculty development. In this program, clinical educators will work on questioning, observation & feedback, creating an optimum learning environment, and other learner-centered teaching strategies. At the end of the program, participants will have a strong start on scholarship around their experience as a medical educator and a certificate as a graduate of the ACT program.

This program has established a track record of success at Michigan State University, then expanding to Arizona State University, and now to UNMC and four other institutions. In UNMC’s inaugural year of this program (2026-2027), applications are open to clinician educators in the College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine.

This program can be scaled and expanded to other units. for the 2027 academic year and beyond. Email facdev@unmc.edu if you are interested in learning more.
