Computer Requirements for:
Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used by learning institutions, educators, and students to access and manage course learning.
Web based*, active internet connection required.
Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android or any other device with a modern web browser. Learn more about basic computer specifications and tutorials.
The ExamSoft application is utilized for online course assessments. ExamSoft allows you to securely download an exam to a personal computer and blocks access to files, programs and the internet during an exam.
The software application used by students to access course assessments is called Examplify.
You will be required to have Examplify on a device that can be used for taking assessments.
- Internet connection required for downloading/uploading exams.
- One of the three most recent versions of macOS. When a new version of macOS is released, the macOS requirement becomes one of the then-current three most recent versions: the new version of macOS and the previous two versions
- iPads- The 2 most recent versions of iOS
- ExamSoft does not support tablet devices other than Surface Pro (no Chromebook).
- *No virtual operating systems.
- Windows OS- standard versions only, cannot be “S mode”
The College of Nursing has selected the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) package to help students prepare to successfully pass the NCLEX (National Council of Licensure Exam). The ATI curriculum consists of resources to fit various types of learning styles. These resources include textbooks, video tutorials, interactive simulations, skills modules, online practice and proctored assessments. ATI will track your progress and provide you and your instructor with detailed diagnostic score reports that will help identify areas of content strength and indicate what areas need further practice and review
- Web based* (Chrome, Firefox, Safari only), active internet connection required.
- iPad and android tablets do not support Proctored Assessments
- Android tablets have limited capabilities with some simulation products
Zoom is a communications platform that allows users to connect with video, audio, phone, and chat. Using Zoom requires an internet connection and a supported device.

Note: Devices running Windows 10 must run Windows 10 Home, Pro, or Enterprise. S Mode is not supported.
Microsoft Office 365: Students, Faculty, and Staff of UNMC use Microsoft 365 for communication, collaboration, and content management. (Free access for current students, no subscription required)
