Ken Bayles, PhD

Staphylococcal biofilm and disease (Bayles, Fey, Kielian)
This is a multi-investigator program project grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that seeks to provide a broader understanding of the mechanisms of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) biofilm development and dispersal, and how these processes interface with the host immune response.

The molecular control of bacterial autolysis (Bayles)
This is a long-standing National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded project focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms involved in the control of cell death and lysis in S. aureus.

Fighting antibiotic resistant infections (Bayles, Fey)
This project is funded by the Department of Defense (DOD) and is primarily focused on the generation and characterization of a sequence-defined transposon insertion library in which all of the non-essential genes of S. aureus have been disrupted.
