Auditing Fall Risk Reduction Practices

clipboard with checkmark graphic

What?

Auditing is a systematic process to obtain evidence in order to verify that activity is being conducted in compliance with policies and procedures.

Why?

A fall risk reduction auditing program can help you identify if fall risk reduction practices are being implemented as intended in your facility. Determining the consistency of your processes gives you another metric of the success of your program beyond considering only fall and fall injury rates.

How?

Select and/or develop and implement a fall risk reduction auditing tool, process, and feedback strategy. A comprehensive fall risk reduction auditing program will include strategies to address who will conduct the audit, what will be audited, and when the audit will occur; communicate what was found in the audit; and engage in appropriate follow-up actions to make improvements to fall risk reduction practices.
