How to Apply

Application Process for Physical Therapy

Application review: Fulfillment of the basic application requirements does not guarantee admission into the professional program. Special consideration for admission is given to Nebraska, Alaska, Hawaii, and Wyoming residents.

Admission to the program and the privileges of the physical therapy student shall not be denied to any person because of race, age, color, disability, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin, marital status, Vietnam-era veteran status or special disabled Veteran status. UNMC complies with the Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 governing the privacy of student records.

Wait List: Applicants on the Wait List will not be informed of their ranking. These applicants will be notified as soon as possible about an open position in the class. If positions do not become available for applicants on the Wait List during the given year, they are welcome to reapply, but selection as an applicant on the Wait List does not guarantee acceptance in the subsequent years.

Deferrals: The physical therapy program will consider requests for a 1-year deferral of admission from accepted students with unforeseen or extraordinary extenuating circumstances. Full policy and procedure

Class Size: Enrollment in the program is typically limited to approximately 50 students per year at the Omaha campus, and up to 16 students per year at the Kearney campus. During the application process, applicants have the opportunity to express their preference as to whether they wish to attend the Omaha or Kearney site and to provide written rationale for that choice.
