In April 2021, the UNMC Alumni Association launched a new online community, UNMC Alumni Connections. This is a dedicated place for alumni and students to connect through messaging, meetings, groups, discussion boards and more.
The community is managed by the Alumni Relations Office and was created in partnership with industry leader, PeopleGrove.
For questions or assistance logging into the platform, individuals can reach out to Laura Olson in the Alumni Relations Office via email: email@example.com.
Ready to join the community?
Visit https://connections.unmcalumni.org and join the community via LinkedIn (if already signed up on that site), their UNMC NETID, or email. Alumni--this is the opportunity for you to connect with classmates, others in your profession or other UNMC alumni, no matter their location. This is also your connection point to students; to offer insight through short or long-term mentoring. Students are especially encouraged to take advantage of this unique resource to help build professional connections, meet with alumni, and further their professional growth while still at UNMC. Student users will then have the opportunity to continue utilizing the community after the transition from student to alumnus.
Upon logging into the platform, it is recommended that new users build their individual profile based on their career, professional interests, availability to assist students, and more. Upon completing a profile, users can explore the basics of the platform, visit the discussion boards to ask or answer a question, review the resources tab, and join the group for your college.
Don't just take it from us.
UNMC students and alumni have already made connections on the platform.

Upon joining the UNMC Alumni Connections online community, I completed the “matching recommendations” quiz and it recommended Jessica to me. We messaged back and forth a bit and then we met in-person and it was a perfect match. We have a great deal in common and there is actually an opportunity for her to help me with my new database project in the weeks to come. With her background in quality and process improvement, this will give her the outlet she needs to pursue that passion while she is teaching or deciding what her post-doctoral plans include.
Meeting on this site was like an answer to prayers for both of us. Others may not necessarily find the level of connection that the two of us have found, but it is uncanny how well we are suited, and I am really looking forward to mentoring her and gaining insights from her as well.

So far, the online community has been wonderful! Terry found me and asked if I would be willing to connect. Our meeting went so well we ended up spending 2 hours together chatting. We discovered we have several common interests. I joined the site after getting the invitation email to see what it had to offer. Just prior to joining, I had been thinking about next steps in my career and how important mentorship is. I got busy and had not explored many of the site’s features yet when I received the message from Terry. However, I am so grateful I did join, and that Terry reached out. It opened the door for a mentorship opportunity.
Terry is an extraordinary nurse leader, who is filled with a tremendous amount of joy, energy, and passion for her work. I am honored to be able to learn from her and gain some of her invaluable wisdom and advice. I am excited to meet again and look forward to seeing how we can support each other going forward!
