  • Identify those at greater risk and how individuals attempt to reduce shame through both adaptive and maladaptive responses.
  • Discuss models such as the compass of shame and attunement concepts that illustrate how the judgment behind shame becomes a form of self-inflicted trauma.
  • Examine best practices, including trauma-informed and resiliency-based strategies, that can help clients develop the intrapersonal acceptance needed to lessen the impact of shame.
