Support the College of Medicine

In 2015, when membership dues were eliminated, the UNMC Alumni Association partnered with the University of Nebraska Foundation and each college to create a new annual giving program. This program created Innovation Funds that promote academic excellence and innovation in each college, and support the people and programs of the UNMCAA. See the impact of these innovation funds.

Gifts to the College of Medicine Innovation Fund are directed toward emerging, critical college priorities, allowing supporters to take part in important college initiatives.

Over the past 25 years, honor classes have commemorated their College of Medicine reunion by creating class funds that benefit the College. These gifts recognize the commitment the College of Medicine made to each student and creates an opportunity for them to give back to the school that provided outstanding medical education.

There are 42 College of Medicine Class Funds in existence that provide support in the area of student scholarships, faculty support, technology, and resources such as the library.

There have been over 1,500 donors to class funds totaling more than $3.2 million dollars. These class gifts are a symbol of loyalty to the College and a tradition of giving that supports the next generation of medical students.

The UNMC College of Medicine Parents and Family Association (PFA) is a dedicated community of parents and family members of current medical students. The PFA exists to strengthen the connection between families and the College, foster student well-being, and promote meaningful social experiences for students throughout their medical journey.

Each year, the PFA proudly supports key student events, including Couples Night Out during Orientation, the M1 Celebration, Match Day, and Graduation. The group also organizes Family Day—a special introduction to medical school life for the families of incoming students—and helps fund the Student Wellness Advocate, a vital resource for medical student support.

Contributions made to the College of Medicine Parents and Family Innovation Fund directly sustain these efforts.

The Only in Nebraska Campaign is a fundraising effort by the University of Nebraska to raise $3 billion and engage at least 150,000 unique donors to support students, faculty, academic programs, and research.

This campaign aims to address the future needs of Nebraska by focusing on student access and success, enhancing faculty and academic excellence, and fostering transformational research and innovation.
