  • Define motivational interviewing and explain its core elements.​
  • Identify motivational interviewing techniques, such as open-ended questions, affirmations, and reflective listening to patient encounters.​
  • Demonstrate motivational interviewing techniques for treatment of substance use, chronic disease management, medication adherence, mental health issues, and beyond.​
  • Discuss the potential challenges and barriers to using motivational interviewing, and how to overcome them.
