Rural Nebraska Nursing Fellowship

Incoming students to the Kearney, Norfolk or Scottsbluff campuses who are interested in rural health and/or long-term care may apply to our Rural Nebraska Nursing Fellowship (RNNF) opportunity.  Students selected for this program will receive scholarships for full tuition as well as a living stipend.

Must attend one of these 3 rural campuses:

University of Nebraska Scottsbluff

University of Nebraska Scottsbluff

West Nebraska Division

University of Nebraska Kearney

University of Nebraska Kearney

Kearney Division

University of Nebraska Norfolk

University of Nebraska Norfolk

Northern Division

Additional Criteria

Must apply and be accepted to the UNMC College of Nursing (Kearney, Scottsbluff, or Norfolk campuses only)
Must have completed all general education prerequisites for the UNMC College of Nursing Traditional BSN program. 
Must maintain 3.0 GPA.

Must commit to a 2-year employment agreement with the assigned clinical facility upon degree completion.

Must be willing to commit to the following structured learning plan (in addition to the regular traditional BSN coursework):

Semester 1

• IPEC Online Module and Discussion-Pre-Work 

• Ethics and Advocacy in LTC and Acute Care

• Case: Deadly Choices at Memorial with discussion & reflection

Semester 2 LTC Clinical Experiences 20 Hours

• 16 hours of LTC clinical experience in a LTC facility

• 4 hours of LTC focused clinical simulation

• Clinical evaluation of the student

• Patient Case Assignment

• Post-Simulation Evaluation

• Self-Reflection on resources and delegation

Semester 3 Didactic Instruction  10 Hours

• Online Modules

• Synchronous Online Poster Presentations across all three campuses using i-Wall Technology

 • Social Determinants of Health Video Modules

• Institute for Healthcare Improvement Modules-IHI Open School

• Online discussion questions related to Healthcare Equality

 Semester 4 Acute Care Clinical Experiences  20 Hours

• 16 hours of acute care clinical experiences in an acute care facility

• 4 hours of acute care focused clinical simulation

• Clinical evaluation of the student

• Patient Case Assignment

• Post-Simulation Evaluation

• Post IPEC CCSAS
