Financial Management
This guide is designed for Principal Investigators and Financial Account Managers who use Stratocore PPMS to manage financial accounts and cost objects. It provides step-by-step instructions for:
- Reviewing cost objects and associated user permissions
- Adding cost objects to individuals, groups, or projects
- Requesting financial management rights
- Understanding key roles and account relationships
PIs and Financial Account Managers can:
- Manage and over sees specific financial accounts
- Affiliates cost objects with lab groups, users, and projects
- View usage and approve billing for specific financial accounts
To review cost objects

Go to the Group/Account Management tab

Under Financial account management section

Confirm account number is correct

Select the account number of interest to review users, managers, and authorizations associated with the cost object

Note: Only users with financial management rights for specific cost objects can assign those cost objects to individuals, groups, or projects. Financial management requests must be approved by a system administrator.
To request cost object management rights

Go to the Profile tab

Scroll down to the Financial Account Information section

Select New account management request
- Enter the relevant cost object. Note: only valid SAP cost objects can be used.

Submit the request.

Helpful Tips
- Users can only be affiliated with one group but are able to be a group manager of multiple groups in Stratocore PPMS
- Financial accounts can have multiple Account Managers
- Users can be the Account Manager for multiple financial accounts
- Users can be both Group Managers and Account Managers
- Only valid SAP account numbers will show up in Stratocore PPMS
