|Fall Bocce League||Summer Bocce League|
To anyone who's never heard about or played bocce before, it looks like a mixture of lawn bowling and Skee-ball with a hint of shuffleboard. Bocce matches are divided into rounds called frames where each team will toss 4 heavy bocce balls from one side of the rectangular field or court to the other and as close as possible to a small white ball called a pallino.
How do I sign up?
- Captains must 1) create a team through EZLeagues, 2) instruct their teammates to register with that team in EZLeagues, and 3) pay the registration fee at the front desk of the Center for Healthy Living by the registration deadline.
- Individuals without a team must sign up through EZLeagues. Once registered, an individual may a) choose to be added to team in need of players OR b) form a new team with other individuals unattached to a team.
If you encounter any issues, please direct any questions to the Campus Recreation Coordinator (email@example.com) or to the Center for Healthy Living front desk at 402-559-5254.
Who may sign up?
Registration for Intramural Bocce is open to UNMC/Nebraska Medicine staff, faculty, students volunteers, retirees, and the spouse/parents/children (aged 16 or older) of someone who belongs to any of the previously mentioned groups.
In addition, individuals who don't belong to any of the previously mentioned groups may participate. The number of non-UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals allowed on a team is subject to sport-specific limitations. In this case, Bocce teams must be composed of at least 50% UNMC/Nebraska Medicine participants.
Never played? No problem!
Bocce is a breeze for new players to learn. Similar to UNMC's Curling League in the winter, many of the previous Bocce league participants had little or no prior experience at the start of the season. The video below gives a brief overview of the general rules of the game.
