Pandemic Update - September 17, 2020

In an effort to protect the safety and health of our participants and our campus during the global pandemic, volleyball, basketball, soccer, futsal, kickball, and dodgeball have been cancelled for the Fall 2020 intramural season. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please consider participating in one of the other sports that we are able to offer, including badminton, pickleball, and table tennis. Registration has been opened, and participants are still able to sign up online.

About Intramural Leagues

Intramural leagues are athletic competitions organized for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty/staff/students and their families (parents/spouses/children). Teams may also have a limited number of non-UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals.

Games in a given league are played on the same day every week for a period of weeks listed as the season length. A league usually consists of a round-robin (or regular season) phase followed by a post-season playoff tournament. If there is a tournament, the regular season phase will determine seeding for the playoff tournament. The winners of the tournament will be named league champions and will be awarded the intramural championship t-shirts at no additional cost to the winning teams.

How do I sign up?

Captains must 1) create a team through EZLeagues, 2) instruct their teammates to register with that team in EZLeagues, and 3) pay the registration fee at the front desk of the Center for Healthy Living by the registration deadline.

Individuals without a team must sign up through EZLeagues. Once registered, an individual may a) choose to be added to team in need of players OR b) form a new team with other individuals unattached to a team.

Answers to frequently asked questions about registration

All league participants (not just captains) must register through EZLeagues.

Participants will not be asked to create an account or password. Simply fill out the required information (marked with *) and click submit when finished.

A captain must pay the registration fee at the front desk of the Center for Healthy Living in order for their registration to be considered complete!

Registration Fees

The registration fee covers all costs associated with the league, including facility access for league participants and spectators for the purposes of scheduled league games. Participants do not need to have a membership to the Center for Healthy Living in order to participate in intramural leagues.

The registration fee must be paid in full at the front desk of the Center for Healthy Living (CFHL) by the registration deadline. Any team that has not paid the registration fee in full by the registration deadline will be responsible for paying a $10 late fee added to the league registration fee.

Who May Participate?

Registration for intramural leagues is open to UNMC/Nebraska Medicine staff, faculty, students volunteers, retirees, and the spouse/parents/children (aged 16 or older) of anyone who belongs to any of the previously mentioned groups.

In addition, individuals who don't belong to any of the previously mentioned groups may participate. The number of non-UNMC/Nebraska Medicine individuals allowed on a team is subject to sport-specific limitations. The exact numbers for each sport/league may be found on the sport-specific pages of the Intramural website.

Competitive Divisions

In order to keep leagues competitive while still being inclusive of players at all different skill and ability levels, several leagues are split into more than one division. Teams will only play other teams that elect to play in the same division. The divisions are described below.

Elite (Division 1) - The Elite division is the most competitive division for intramural leagues at UNMC. Participants in this division generally have a wealth of experience in the sport they play and are looking to play other highly experienced players.

Intermediate (Division 2) - The Intermediate division is new for 2020! As the name suggests, the level of competition falls between the Elite and Recreational divisions. The Intermediate division is ideal for participants who aren't experts at their sport but desire a quicker, more competitive pace than the Recreational division.

Recreational (Division 3) - The Recreational division is the most casual level of intramural leagues at UNMC. Teams in the Recreational division are generally composed of participants who are new to the sport and/or primarily interested in playing for fun/leisure.

Refunds for Intramural Leagues are available up to seven calendar days before the first scheduled date of play. No refunds will be given after that point.
