Jonathan Castillo, MD, MPH

Endowed Professor, Department of Pediatrics
Chief, Division of Developmental Medicine

Dr. Jonathan Castillo
Since his initial work in pursuit of a master of public health at Johns Hopkins University, the
integration of health-equity and global health training in the service of racially/ethnically
diverse patient populations have been a focus in Dr. Jonathan Castillo’s career. Following training at Cincinnati Children’s, this has been expressed through clinical labors in Fetal Centers and among children living with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Through training of residents and fellows, Dr. Castillo has aimed at sharing this expertise within the US and throughout low-income nations where disability specific training is lacking.

Furthermore, multicenter training and research collaborations, with Health-Disparity
investigators addressing myelomeningocele related comorbidities, have allowed Dr. Castillo to make
unique contributions to the field of neurodevelopmental pediatrics among Spanish-speaking
and underserved populations. Additionally, the global health training he received afforded him the
opportunity to share clinical and educational experience internationally.
