Why Study Medicine?
Physicians are lifelong learners in an intellectually stimulating career. New research and technology are introduced every year, and you'll need to keep up with the evolving information and advancements in the field through continual learning. The training and the long hours can be difficult — but the chance to serve patients makes it all worth it.
Why Study Medicine at UNMC?
U.S. News & World Report ranks UNMC's College of Medicine sixth among the nation's primary care programs in its 2022 Best Graduate Schools report.
A medical degree from UNMC prepares you to meet the health care needs of patients through clinical practice, biomedical science and research, problem-solving and compassion. Our program prepares you for success in primary care or specialty fields. We also offer dual degrees and Enhanced Medical Education Tracks.
Our unique approach exposes you to a mix of basic science and clinical material presented in core subjects instead of the traditional presentation by department, such as anatomy or biochemistry. This allows you to grasp the connectedness of the physical system.
You'll benefit from small group learning sessions where you'll examine patient scenarios, discuss a variety of relevant topics and practice your clinical skills on patient simulators.
We are committed to promoting diversity in health care and treat patients from all backgrounds. Research continues to show that a diverse health care workforce leads to better patient outcomes.
