Alice Sato, MD, PhD

I am an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and serve as the Associate Hospital Epidemiologist for Children’s Nebraska. I received her MD and PhD in Immunology (with a focus on HIV and vaccinology) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by general pediatrics residency through the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children/Thomas Jefferson University program. I received broad experience in outpatient and hospitalist medicine, as well as gastroenterology and gene therapy research, prior to starting my pediatric infectious disease fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, which I completed in 2014.  My board certifications are in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease.

At Children’s, I am a member of work groups for Vascular Access, Infection Control and the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes initiatives. Nationally, I hold a membership in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, for which I volunteer on the PIDS Communications Committee and the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 initiative. My areas of interest include disease prevention, immunocompromised patients, science communication and diagnostics.
