Alice Sato, MD, PhD

Dr. Alice Sato is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She also serves as the Associate Hospital Epidemiologist for Children’s Nebraska. Dr. Sato received her MD and PhD in Immunology (with a focus on HIV and vaccinology) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by general pediatrics residency through the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children/Thomas Jefferson University program. She had broad experience in outpatient and hospitalist medicine, as well as gastroenterology and gene therapy research, prior to starting her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, completed in 2014. She is dual board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease.

At Children’s, Dr. Sato is a member of work groups for Vascular Access, Infection Control, and the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes initiatives. Nationally, Dr. Sato is a member of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, for which she volunteers on the PIDS Communications Committee and the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 initiative. Her areas of interest include disease prevention, immunocompromised patients, science communication and diagnostics.
