Assistant Professor, UNMC Division of Neonatology

Fredrick Daapah-Siakwan, MD

As a neonatologist, I am privileged to care for critically ill newborns and periviable infants, partnering closely with families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. My passion lies in continually advancing the standard of care in the NICU through multidisciplinary quality improvement, neuroprotection, and strategies that optimize outcomes for our smallest and sickest patients. Beyond bedside care, my current research investigates broad national trends in periviability, healthcare resource utilization, and health disparities in neonates. Because improving outcomes for newborns requires collective insight, I deeply value broad research collaboration and am dedicated to mentoring trainees in rigorous, evidence-based scholarship. As a former associate program director and member of the Society for Pediatric Research, I remain committed to shaping medical education, guiding the next generation of physicians, and working alongside colleagues nationwide to elevate care for neonates and their families.
