Tara M. Nordgren, PhD

Assistant Professor, UNMC Division of Neonatology

Research in the Nordgren lab includes exploring how environmental dust exposures impact inflammation, injury, and repair processes in the lung and other organ systems. Ongoing research includes investigating the potentials of omega-3 fatty acid-derived mediator signaling in resolving dust-induced lung inflammation, including investigating the impacts of bioactive lipid signaling in promoting IL22-mediated lung repair. Additional projects are ongoing that explore the role of omega-3 fatty acids and their bioactive metabolites in promoting maternal-fetal health and placenta functioning. Together, these projects support the lab's overarching goals to promote health across a lifespan via identifying the potentials of nutritional and therapeutic interventions to support inflammation modulation.
